fritzelly Posted June 8 Posted June 8 I want to test DVBViewer as the PVR backend for Kodi I'm a little confused on what I am buying - there is DVBViewer that I've downloaded the demo for - do I need to pay for this and then also pay for the server side of the software as well? Quote

DVBViewer itself does not provide server functionality. You need to additionally buy a DVBViewer Media Server licence. Please read more about it in this topic. It also informs about the restricted Media Server Basic version, that is free for users who have purchased DVBViewer Pro. Quote
fritzelly Posted June 9 Author Posted June 9 Stop if I'm reading that right I can only watch or record a single satellite stream and cannot set any recordings in kodi itself using the basic free version? Quote
Griga Posted June 9 Posted June 9 Of course you can record a stream received from the DMS Basic in Kodi (!), but you cannot use the DVBViewer PVR add-on to schedule recordings in Kodi that shall be performed by the DMS Basic. Quote
fritzelly Posted June 9 Author Posted June 9 But if I buy the full version I can record multiple streams and set recordings from Kodi? Quote

You can also record multiple streams wth the basic version. There are no restrictions in this respect. However, you have to schedule them in the DMS web interface or DVBViewer on the same PC. vor 33 Minuten schrieb fritzelly: and set recordings from Kodi? Yes. 1 Quote
fritzelly Posted June 9 Author Posted June 9 Last question - is it compatible with Schedules Direct? Since there is pretty much only now/next broadcast I use them for a full 7+ day EPG Quote
Griga Posted June 9 Posted June 9 vor 39 Minuten schrieb fritzelly: is it compatible with Schedules Direct? Probably no. Never heard of it. Link? vor 39 Minuten schrieb fritzelly: Since there is pretty much only now/next broadcast I use them for a full 7+ day EPG The DMS full version is able to receive the complete 7-days Freesat EPG automatically. DVBViewer and DMS Basic are also able to receive it, but you need to tune some channel on Astra 28,2° East 11427 H (e.g. the radio channel talkSPORTDist) where the EPG is broadcasted, and let it run for several seconds. fritzelly Posted June 9 Author Posted June 9 Schedules Direct Found some plugin Xepg Freesat doesn't give much EPG unless you are on a Freesat device, and lots of channels give no EPG at all, hence why I use the above for a full EPG Quote

fritzelly Posted June 9 Author Posted June 9 I'll see what I get when I'm emailed the link for the proper version but the demo was giving a sparse EPG, still quite a good few channels that are free to air and not Freesat tho. Maybe I'll cancel my SD subscription Quote
