Arthur Dimas Posted September 1 Posted September 1 I wanted to connect my Media server to my cell phone, I installed the application, went to my operator and entered the server's IP and port, with port forwarding and it still doesn't work, what could be done? Quote
Griga Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Are the Media Server and your phone located in the same (home or corporate) network? If yes, it's easy. Just enter http://Media Server IP address:8089/ios in a browser on your phone for connecting to the Mobile Web Interface (also valid for Android). If the Media Server and your phone are located in different (sub-)networks, you need to set up a username and password in the Media Server options -> Web Settings and tick "Allow access from internet" (see svcoptions.exe or "Configure Server" in the tray icon menu). The Media Server does not allow access from a different network without username and password. The browser will ask for it when you try to open the Web Interface. However, there is a tweak that lets the Media Server handle a different network in the same way as a local network, so no user name and password are required. More about it on demand. Additional measures may be necessary, like port forwarding in the router, particularly when accessing the Media Server via the internet. However, in this case it is highly recommendable to use a VPN, because a HTTP connection via the internet is not secure, even if it is password protected. Quote
