vitony Posted Monday at 08:41 PM Posted Monday at 08:41 PM I'm trying to integrate DVBViewer M3U into TV Headend without any success - is this possible? I have the full version of the Media Server and the Pro version of the Viwere. Quote
Griga Posted yesterday at 03:18 AM Posted yesterday at 03:18 AM M3U with which content? How has it been created? What do you want to achieve? Please explain in more detail. Quote
vitony Posted 10 hours ago Author Posted 10 hours ago (edited) I have a DVBS and a DVBT tuner on a Windows PC, which also has DVB Media Server installed. I want to feed the output of these tuners to TV Headend so that I can watch TV remotely (via a M3U to Channels DVR) when I am travelling. Although DVBViewer appears as a TV adapter on TVH I have not been able to activate it so that it tunes any channels. Then I tried feeding TVH with a M3U from DVB but TVH doesn't recognize it. For various reasons, I'm trying to avoid running the DVB M3U through Channels DVR directly. Edited 10 hours ago by vitony Quote

I want to feed the output of these tuners to TV Headend so that I can watch TV remotely The best way to achieve this within your home network is to use the Media Server as Sat>IP server and tvheadend as Sat>IP client. tvheadend should detect the Media Server as Sat>IP server automatically and allow to use the tuners connected to your Windows PC as if they were connected to the device where tvheadend is running. In this case you don't need M3U export/import, but only configure tvheadend appropriately. However, when you are travelling, you are outside of your home network, and you will probably use a VPN or port forwarding in your router to access the Media Server at home. Since Sat>IP comprises a bunch of different network protocols (TCP, UDP, RTSP, UPnP, Multicast...) that may or may not work under these conditions, it is easier to let the Media Server work as IPTV server (using only HTTP for delivering TV/Radio transport streams) and tvheadend as IPTV client, as described here. As far as it concerns the Media Server, you need to download an M3U HTTP channel list from the LInks Page of the Desktop Web Interface for this, either containing URLs for the original (as broadcasted) TV/Radio streams, if your upstream bandwidth is sufficient for it, or URLs for streams transcoded to a lower data rate, which can be configured in the dialog that appears after selection of "HTTP Channel List (Transcoded Streams)". The output format of transcoded streams should be TS, because most likely tvheadend is not able to handle other formats. Please note that on-the-fly transcoding (wich is actually done by FFmpeg) wil produce some CPU load on the server PC, so it should be sufficiently equipped for this task. If you download the M3U outside your home network with a browser on the target device (where tvheadend runs), the IP address and port values in the contained URLs should already be correct (same as for the web interface). However, if you export the M3U in your home network, e.g. with a browser on the Media Server PC, you need to search & replace the IP addresses and ports with a text editor by values that are required for accessing the Media Server from outside, before using the M3U in tvheadend when you are travelling. That's for an overview... please note that it is better to ask tvheadend specific questions in the tvheadend forum, not here. I know tvheadend, but I don't have much experience with it. Quote
