DVBViewer 3.1.2 hangs on AT startup

The new DVBViewer-3.1.2 seems to have an initialization problem when it is started as an AT job under Windows XPsp2, it hangs with the "splash" startup progress bar somewhere around 90%.

DVBViewer-3.1.0 continues to work just fine when being started as an AT Job.

I do have some more problems with DVBViewer-3.1 and task scheduling:

The automatic scheduling with the windows task scheduler seems to be broken.

It works sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't. The Microsoft Windows interfaces to scheduling are a royal PITA, so it might be better to create one's own scheduler

for this purpose. I had been using WinDVR with a Terratec Cinergy Analog TV

card connected to CableTV for more than a year--and it worked perfectly

(it does have it's own small scheduling software that sits in the systray).

It also happened to me twice that two instances of DVBViewer where running,

creating two corrupted versions of the same recording (when using integrated

windows scheduler, NOT with manual AT).

Which is why I'm now using AT manually from the command line.

With DVBViewerTE this works just fine, except that TE doesn't have

the Close DVBViewer after recording and Disable A/V during recording.

With DVBViewer 3.1, all scheduled jobs are purged when DVBViewer closes

after being started through AT and finishing a scheduled recording that says

"Close DVBViewer". That is really annoying.

I'm so glad that my Dreambox Receiver works reliably, so I only have to

use DVBViewer recording when there is more than one show that I want

to record at a given time...

Take a look at the setup.xml the is a section

320

240

VisPlugins\

Punkie 1.7

VisPlugins\punkie\punkie.svp

0

Please delete this section, it will be recreated if needed. But be careful and make a backup of the setup.xml. And turn the DVBViewer off before editing it.

Hope it helps

It's for now a workaround, the corrected solution is being tested right now.

[edit]that's for the problem with the 3.1.2[/edit]

I did replace 3.1.2 with 3.2.1 and now DVBViewer starts up when started by

AT hh:mm /interactive

I haven't done many tests yet, but 3.2.1 didn't purge my recordings list

anymore.

However I noticed another strange behaviour with 3.2.1, which I have

not previously observed with any other Windows program -- but it

appears that this error can not be reliably reproduced:

After I had DVBViewer performing a timer-based recording

(started by a manually configured AT /interactive), and closing

itself down automaticall after finishing the recording, I was

no longer able to change the stacking order of the windows

of my desktop! Although I could activate open windows

by clicking into them, the windows would no longer become

the topmost window -- but instead remain where they were,

partly obscured by other windows. This affected ALL other

windows on the desktop.

I could finally restore correct operation of the desktop

by launching DVBViewer through the shortcut bar.

Could it be that DVBViewer hooks into some Windows

functionality and sometimes may fail to release it before

exiting -- so that windows can no longer be restacked?
