vertigo Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 (edited) Hi all, I recently installed a program called "desktopx" and also "objectdock", which lets your pc run little icons/shortcuts/programs called "widgets" that make your desktop look good, as well as giving extra functonality. However, when they are active, and i tune to any channel with DVBViewer 3.1.2, i cannot see the video, i can only hear sound. I tried playing a mpeg file also, and still no video. When i use another program, such as media player classic, to view any video file, it works perfectly. the only time i can get DVBViewer to work while i have widgets on the desktop is by using vmr7/9, which i don't want to do. anybody know how to fix this? ps i am running win xp sp2, amd64 3200+, 1g ram, ati x800-xl. i tried using nvidia and intervideo codec to play back, and both have same result. Klausing Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 looks like an overlay problem of your graficcard. Quote
vertigo Posted August 24, 2005 Author Posted August 24, 2005 (edited) it can't be, because the problem only happens to DVBViewer. every other player works fine with any video. i agree though, its probably an overlay mixer issue i have a high-end graphics card, it should be able to handle any such load with ease Edited August 25, 2005 by vertigo Quote
Klausing Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 the result of problematic overlay is quit simple: normaly the system paint a specific color on your desktop. Now the graficcard replace this color through the video. If the viewer cant recognize the exact color the graficcard paint the Video on the wrong color and you see only a black window. Maybe the other programms use VMR as default and so you dont have this problem. It would be helpful if you would give us the needed informations: http://www.DVBViewer.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2210 and verry helpful would be a screenshot from the graph. This you can make with graphedit from Microsoft. Quote
vertigo Posted August 26, 2005 Author Posted August 26, 2005 (edited) thanks for your help so far klausing, the other programs that work are most definitely using overlay, so its got something to do with DVBViewer. i have attatched my setup.xml, and also my graphedit screenshot (don't know if i took a screenshot of the right window though). also my log file. thanks again Setup.xml DVBViewer.log Edited August 26, 2005 by vertigo Quote
Klausing Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 maybe one of the developers can say more about this: PM EOSError raised by instance tmrDesktop of class TTimer at 00410B96:Systemfehler. Code: 6. The handle is invalid in the past we had problems with Intervideodecoder. Please try an other video decoder in options. Quote
vertigo Posted August 26, 2005 Author Posted August 26, 2005 i've tried cyberlink, intervideo and nvidia. same thing Quote
vertigo Posted August 28, 2005 Author Posted August 28, 2005 ok i have SORT OF solved the problem for the time being. all i have to do is move the 'widgets' or icons away from the top and left of my desktop. as long as they are stashed away in the bottom or right of the screen, DVBViewer seems to work fine. i believe it is an issue with hardware acceleration, as when i tried different modes in media player classic, such as vmr7, 9, windowed, renderless, etc. i noticed my cpu usage would fluctuate between 40% to 100%. when i closed the problematic programs, the graphics card worked on the video, and not the icons, and usage was around 10% to 24%. thanks for your help on a slightly unrelated topic, is there any way to watch files currently being recorded with any player, such as media player classic? the only way i can watch is if i open the file with DVBViewer itself, or if i copy & paste the file somewhere else, but it obviously does not give the rest of the show.
