bluepill Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 (edited) I have two questions: 1. I'm new customer and just installed the last version (3.2.3) w/o problems. I'm located in North America. On my DVBViewer menu EPG Window is greyed and EPG.dat file is 1KB despite the fact that I've sucessfuly scanned all TPs. What could be the reason for that? 2. How do I configure the SkyStar2 remote to work? I've read in another forum that the previous version had option for Remote to be used, but here I cant see one. Thanks in advance Drago Edited September 29, 2005 by hackbart Quote
bluepill Posted September 25, 2005 Author Posted September 25, 2005 OK, I've read the last manual and I'm more confused... It says: "The WinLIRC sub-tabsheet presents a list, similar to the keyboard list. This list allows for assigning functions to the keys of a remote control, which is supported by the program WinLIRC. It is done exactly in the same way as for the keyboard, except one difference: You have to press a key of the remote control instead." However, here what I see in my OPTIONS Why I do not see what the manual says? Drago Quote
Gioxy Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 ...the DVBViewer manual isn't already updated to the very last version... Now the function assignments of the remote keys are in the same page of the keyboard one's, you can find it clicking the "Input" item... Quote
bluepill Posted September 26, 2005 Author Posted September 26, 2005 I've got the remote working. Now the remaining problem is the EPG. Any idea why the guide is not downloading? Might be DVBViewer does not support North American system? Any ideas? Thanks in advance Quote
bluepill Posted September 29, 2005 Author Posted September 29, 2005 I would like to express my disappointment from the type of customer support I’m receiving (or not receiving) here! I’ve asked a simple question and no one (developer or tech support) bothered to answer… As I said to Bernd Hackbard in private email: …I'm SQL programmer I do sell software too. That’s why I've decided to pay for your work out of professional courtesy. Not that I couldn’t find a "free" DVBViewer on the net… All I wanted to know is: does your program supports North American’s EPG? Well… Quote
Guest Lars_MQ Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 I think it's common sense to use clear topic titles in a forum and not mix up things that don't belong together. Maybe a seperat topic named "EPG in North America" would have attracted more responses... Just my two cent's. I asked the headprogrammer, he should know something about it. Quote
hackbart Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 Well this depends on: First of all the EPG is worldwide the same standard, but in america you have a couple of different epg systems. The ATSC standard provides some stupid proprietary solution which is currently not supported. You also have in america something called Mediahighway EPG. There is a plugin in the members section which can read a standard like this and i might be able to add the ability to dump the data. Physically it is hard to check this on my own, since i'm unable to receive american content here in germany. Last but not least there is an XMLTV Importer available in the members section. With this tool you can retrieve a 14day epg via internet. Christian Quote
bluepill Posted September 29, 2005 Author Posted September 29, 2005 Thanks you all for the reply! Lars_MQ – Point taken Christian: Will you please point me to the plugin you’ve mentioned? I do not see anything that might do so. Indeed I’ve tried the XMLTV importer and it works (sort of), but when exit the application all imported data are gone… Is this the way it suppose to work? Thanks Quote
Gioxy Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 (edited) Is this the way it suppose to work? Take a look in the option to see if the "Persistent EPG data" option is checked... Also, if you import the data via XMLTV plugin, you have to check "Do not receive EPG-data" too... otherwise they are knocked out by the actual channel non-standard data... please let me know the results...
