Mikko-vaari
Hi! I updated my DVBVPro to 3.2.6 version. I especially enjoined the fix You mentioned "[*]Fix: Recording: DVB-Subtitles are recorded in ts format now." It works quite OK in case you start the recording manually. But in case of automatic start from timer there will be no DVB-subtitels at all!!! Quote Link to comment
Guest Lars_MQ
Manual and timed recordings are internally handled the same. So there is no reason why a timed recording should be different from a manual recording (remember I talk about the internal recording engine not the VRP). Quote Link to comment

I'm not using any plugins. To be exact, I tried to record in .TS-format. Now I made more studies: If you start - manually or timed - the recording before the program has started, DVBV don't find DVB-subtitels. Edited December 28, 2005 by Mikko-vaari Quote Link to comment
emmel
I think the original question was about "dynamic subtitles": If the recording starts before a subtitled program begins, and there was no subpict pid present before, the subs might be missing from the recording (pmt changes after the recording has started). Guest Lars_MQ
This could be a explanation. the PMT is only examined at the starting of the recording. And all found matching PIDs are added to the recording. A change while the recording is running is not possible. But this should be quite easy to test: simply programm a timer for a running programm with subtitles. [edit]christian told me, even if there are no subtitles, they should transmit the subtitles pids. it's written somewhere in the specifications. So the above text could be pure nonsense. Sorry [/edit] Quote Link to comment

That is the case, YLE in Finland is sending dynamic subtitles and as far as I know there is no PID before the program with subtitlkes starts. So they can send differnt subtitles (languages) debending on the program. All my scheduled recordings with 3.2.6 are now without subs becauserecordings starts a little before the program starts. Unfortenately the improvment in 3.2.6 does not help much in reality. So after a short joy I must go back again to use videorecorder plugin and "qhost" channels with fixed subtitle PID replacing audio PID because I don't want miss the beginning of the program. Sorry [/edit] <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just checked: Recording with ongoing dvb-subs is ok. Also checked the pmt of another channel that uses dvb-subs: no subtitle pid present at the moment (the provider is YLE, the Finnish national broadcasting company - famous for doing things as they wish...). Guest Lars_MQ
This is getting quite difficult now I'll have to ask Christian, if there is something we can do about it. Quote Link to comment

emmel
Heres the content of two subsequent pmts, when the change happens: Before: -------------------------------------------------------- PMT on PID 256 contains the following information: program_number = 17 PCR_PID = 128(clock) elementary_PID = 512(video) elementary_PID = 650(audio) elementary_PID = 2321(PES packet)[teletext] fin startpage 100 elementary_PID = 3120(section) elementary_PID = 3110(ISO/IEC 13816-6 (type B )) elementary_PID = 3111(ISO/IEC 13816-6 (type B )) -------------------------------------------------------- After: -------------------------------------------------------- PMT on PID 256 contains the following information: program_number = 17 PCR_PID = 128(clock) elementary_PID = 512(video) elementary_PID = 650(audio) elementary_PID = 2321(PES packet)[teletext] fin startpage 100 elementary_PID = 1028(PES packet)[DVB subtitle: swe] elementary_PID = 3120(section) elementary_PID = 3110(ISO/IEC 13816-6 (type B )) elementary_PID = 3111(ISO/IEC 13816-6 (type B )) -------------------------------------------------------- Quote Link to comment
jouko999
Finnish YLE seems to be the first broadcasting company using dynamic dvb subtitling, but they follow the standards - it is not their own invention. This topic has been handled in many other forums lately, the producers of set-top boxes have already solved the problem, and so has Nebula. Let's be patient, I guess subtitles are working correctly in the upcoming major version. Until that it seems that we Finnish users have to use Videorecorder plugin and 'ghost' channels in the channellist.
