Widly variable signal strength shown...

Hi Guys

Anyone got a clue why on UK DVB-T test H264 transmissions when viewing HD via DVBV 3.5 my signal strength drops to 0%, then some time later (seconds not minutes) climbs back up to 33% and then eventually makes its way to 100%. The picture of course stops when there's no signal and the data rate drops down to 3 or 4 MB/s

Using Cyberlink codec at the moment and DXVA is enabled giving about 30-40% CPU usage with AMD X2 3800. When the signal's at 100% the machine runs fine and the display is smooth. Using Hauppauge Nova-T.

All other MPEG2 muxes run fine with 100% at all times. This problem seems to affect all the H264 streams that are being broadcast.

Machine is fully patched and is a brand new clean install of XP with latest drivers for everything.

Even tried moving the machine so that only one short (1m) RF lead was needed but no change.

Don't think it's reception, but not sure if the signal strength display is really showing what's going on or just what's being received by DVBV i.e is the problem further up the chain within the machine, e.g. BDA drivers.

Any clues appreciated.

Yours

Andy
