I've just found out this interesting site about codex:

There are many useful links and info plus downloads of many Video/Audio codex and tools.

 

 

 

 

 

Warning:

 

If some beginners like myself out there are experimenting with other TV software....bear in mind that some applications install extra sets of codex.

On one instance, I was having problems with Recordings which where stopped after a few minutes...which crashed the system as well!

 

I was blaming DVDViewer, I've bought the software only a few days ago and I was convinced that my DVBViewer needed some sort of activation to enable recording (or something similar).

As I found out, the cause of such crashes was an Elecard Codex Demo which was selected as default by the system (in the Video section of the Hardware options).

SUCH FILTER DEMOS IN MY OPINION SHOULD BE BANNED!

Not only they get a priority over other non Demo codex, but they also cause all sort of problems...it took me a whiile to realize and at one point I even thought that my TV card was damaged.
