Hi! Finally I've managed to configure the local DVBViewer to Display the remote channel from the server ( I've been doing this with VLC as client for a year, but It was yesterday that I red that I've to tune THE SAME CHANNEL in the server and the receiver, with VLC you don't have to do nothing in the client when you change the channel).

Well, I have this configuration in the server(remote):

SERVER:

Settings>active>UNICAST>

Interface: 192.168.1.4

Max Users:1

Port: 2345

Buffercount: 50

Stream control > (NO) Stream whole tranponder

(YES) teletext

(YES) dvbsubtitle

(YES) all audio

(YES) EPG

Autodiscovery > (YES) Activate Autodiscovery

Port: 600 (I dont really know how this works)

And I have 2 questions:

1) Is it posible to change the channel directly from the local(client) DVBViewer? Now, I have to change the same channel in the local and the remote DVBViewer.

2) If I use VLC as client, when I change to a channel from the same transponder in the server, I have to restart(or at least stop+play) the VLC, because it doesn't show the new channel. I know Is probably a VLC problem, but does anybody know how to solve it?

Thanks for you support.

1) No, try dvbserver instead of DVBViewer + netstream plugin. DVBViewer will be able to switch channel then an so on.

2) Maybe you coult try to switch off/on "transmit whole transponder" in netstream plugin settings.

I don't even try to stream the whole transponder because everything hangs up, I simply can't use it.

Thanks for your answer, I'd been rumaging about months ago, but I completely forgot DVBServer.

I've configured the server :bye: , and It works, I can switch channel from the client, and it's great ;-) ...

(I haven't been able to make work the autodiscover function, but haven't needed it)

... but i still have a quite uncomfortable problem and I don't know what to do:

After a few minutes (about from 5 minutes to 20) the client freezes, and i have to restart it in order to watch the channel again (I can't switch channel or tune again the same channel I was watching if I don't restart the client). The server doesn't hang up, it continues working:

It didn't happen with DVBViewer v 3.6 +VLC , but started happening when I upgraded to 3.9.0 (with VLC happens less often, about once every hour, but it can be very unpleasant, because with VLC I have to restart everithing, DVBViewer, and it can take me 2 or 3 minutes).

The combination DVBServer+VLC doesn't seem to work and I've red somewere that it can't work after a change in the last versions.

I've reinstalled everything fron scratch,I've even reinstalled the graphic card driver , and the pdvd codec, but with no luck, still the same hangings, I'm starting to consider going back to 3.6.

My card is a skystar 2, the server runs windows xp 64x, the client a centrino with windows xp.

The networks doesnt seem saturated, and the procesors, though quite busy(specialy the client), aren't usualy loosing frames. I can't see what event trigers the client to stop.

I'm the only one that has started so suffer these falls in the receiver?

Thanks for your help!

..to analyze your problem, you have attach a support.zip

If you want to use vlc you have use the netsreaming plugin.

This is a capture from the server, after client(crash+restart)

crashandrestartol1.gif

After the crash the server continues sending data forever if i don't touch anything, then the "stream clients" goes to "0", but no the "control clients" that continues in "1". Then I close DVBViewer client and restart it, and I tunes ok in the channel where it hanged. In the client I have the EPG window open, and after the crash I can change channel and watch the different channels EPGs but it doesn't tune a new channel anymore until I restart it.

These are the support files, created after a crash:

support____client_.zip

support____server_.zip

..hmm, dunno what causes the problem. Is the DVBViewer on the server-pc working withou problems? Have you tried this with the DVBViewer as a local client (skystar2 disabled and unicast device enabled ) ?

Yes, DVBViewer+netstream plugin//DVBViewer as client works fine.

I've found out the source of the problem, though still don't know the solution: windows firewall on the client side.

The firewall in the server side doesn't seem make the problem happen.

If I totally disable the firewall on the client side, it doesn't hang. :D

I had the firewall configured to allow access to the network to DBVViewer, and checked ON the option "Show me a notification each time windows blocks a program".

But somehow is still blocks it without asking me permision after a few minutes.

I've also noticed with netstat, that the TCP connection that felt down was the "unicast "(TCP=2345 on server), but not the "control" one (TCP=4012 on server).

I've tried to use ZoneAlarm instead of windows firewall, but it uses too much resources in my laptop, is there any way to configure the windows firewall so that i don't have to totaly turn it off?
