nigel
Hi all, I am really confused here. I've just purchased a GECUBE HD3450 512MB GRAFIKKARTE PCIE alongside a Hauppauge NOVA-S2 HD card. My system is a Shuttle XPC SB83G5 with 2GB DDR 3200 and a pikey Celeron 2.93GHZ processor Basically when I'm watching normal SD Astra Satellite pictures, using the latest release of DVBViewer, my CPU is around 20-30%. When I switch to the BBC HD feed the CPU goes 100% and eventually locks up the system. I've read this group and others and hear 1-5% CPU load with HDTV!! So I reckon it's down to the CODEC selection BUT I don't see a ATI AVIVO h.264 codec to select, only the Cyberlink h.264 and a few others. Can anybody help?? PLEASE!!! I can give more sys details if required...... Edited August 3, 2008 by nigel Quote Link to comment

nigel
you need the Cyberlink h.264 decoder which OS? I'm using Windows XP SP2. The Cyberlink h.264 decoder i can choose has (PCM45) after it. I assume thats Powercinema 5. Anymore suggestions? Quote Link to comment
freetgy
i suggest you download updates from cyberlink homepage. and try using another renderer. (VMR7, VMR9 ...) You can open ATI Catalyst Control Center -> ATI Overdrive to check if there is any GPU activity Edited August 4, 2008 by freetgy Quote Link to comment

You can open ATI Catalyst Control Center -> ATI Overdrive to check if there is any GPU activity Thanks freetgy! That was it. I downloaded PowerDVD 8 Ultra and installed. I then had the choice of another Cyberlink h.264 codec in the DVBViewer drop down menu. After choosing this "hey-presto"! BBC HD using under 10% CPU and playing smooootttthhh! I also tried playing around with the VMR settings, VMR 9 gave me some transparency on the menu but HD had some fall out so I reverted back to Overlay which is working fine. Annoying that NOVA HD-S2's bundled Powercinema5 installs a cyberlink h.264 codec that does not work!! It was a good evening overall as I got the Hauppauge remote working too in 5 minutes thanks to another post on this forum! Quote Link to comment
