Monitor Resolution Question

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am located in Melbourne Australia and can view all free to air channels with the exception of ABC HD, 7 HD, 9 HD, and 10 HD.

I receive sound on these but no picture.

I have a Samsung 940b which has a max resolution of 1280 x 1024.

Am I thus unable to view HDTV which is 1920 X 1080 ?

My PC is a P4 3.0 GHz (2 logical processors 1 physical), 2 GB Ram, 80GB Hard Drive, ATI Raedon 9600 video card, Dvico Fusion Hybrid Pro, Win XP SP3.

Other than the above DVBViewer is running perfectly.

Thanks,

Thanks for your very prompt reply !!! Appreciated.

The only codec I'm able to select other than <system default> is MPEG2Dec and this did not resolve the problem. Is there somewhere I can get the correct codec from ? If so what directory should it be saved in ?

Thanks again.

Just download the Trials of PowerDVD or (slightly better) Arcsoft TotalMediaTheatre.

Even when the Trialperiod is Over the Codecs will work.

Install the Programm, reboot, select either the PDVD or TMT (for Arcsoft there is an "all in one" Codec) for H.264 in the DirectX Section of the DVBV-Control (Options and it should work (even in OZ o:) ).

And regarding the Resolution of your Monitor:

Reduce the Output 5esolution of your Graphicadapter to 1280 x 768 (60Hz) and you come in close Range of the right Aspect Ratio.

Thanks ! It appears there is no longer a free trial available of PowerdDVD - you need to buy it up front - I'm very happy with Mplayer so I'd prefer not to buy PowerDVD.

I tried installing DVB Portal's HDTVPumpPlugin but after doing so I don't get any new MPeg decoders to select under DirectX in DVBViewer. This plugin claims to be able to play HDTV .ts streams.

Any further help appreciated.

Hi again.

I tried installing Acrsoft TotalMediaTheatre and that gave me the option of selecting their codec under H.264. I then reset the screen res as suggested but I still only get sound with HDTV - no picture.
