byfly Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Hi all, We have been working with my HTPC project over an year now. I started out with MediaPortal, but now converted to DVBViewer. Key points for the conversion were: - Better TV picture quality. - Faster GUI. - Better over all feel. There are still some things that I need to sort out. I'm using Vista Ultimate 32bit. 1. How should Vista be waken from sleep to record? Currently I've set Vista to sleep on it's own after 15 min. And DVBV puts Vista to sleep after closing. What plugin/service should I use to wake Vista from sleep to record scheduled program? 2. Are there "Page Down & Page Up" keys in GUI? If there's multiple files in a folder, it's quite slow to browse thru the whole list. 3. In MediaPortal thereäs a plugin to set the refreshrate according to the video material. Is there a similar one available in DVBViewer? 4. I've read the current beta descriptions and noted that mkv h264 playback with DXVA is going to be available. Did I understand this correctly? Is DXVA available with external subtitles? Thanks! Quote
Moses Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 1. Currently there are two methods. First there is the task scheduler, that uses the task system implemented into windows to wake up the PC and generates task for that frome DVBViewer timers. Second there is the recording service that is a windows service for recording that can wake up the PC. The service has some disadvantages, if you want to watch TV while a recording is happening, so I'd suggest you take a closer look at the task scheduler. Both ways have some issues with vista, though, because vista doesn't allow an application to stop system standby or similar... so be sure to read the instructions carefully and test the system. 2. In the GUI or in the OSD? In the OSD the actions "OSD Next" and "OSD Previous" work as page up/down, you can learn them. In the next release ch+/- should work as page up/down, too, so you could also just wait a little. Quote
byfly Posted December 7, 2008 Author Posted December 7, 2008 Thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure that I can manage all the issues that you gave me instructions for. But what about DXVA with subtitles and the refreshrate problem? Is there any fixes for these?? Thanks! Quote
