No access to Hidden files and folders?

I am new to DVBViewer and have installed V4 on my XP SP2 system over the weekend everything seems to be working well except when I came to install the Freesat EPG files I found I was no longer able to access ‘hidden files and folders’ in my user folder.

 

I have tried the usual options in mycomputer>tools>folder options>view>show hidden files and folders, when clicking apply the desktop icons blink, and when going back into check the 'show hidden files and folders' it has reverted back to 'do not show hidden files and folders'. I have always been able to carry out this operation without problems in the past but since installing DVBViewer my 'rights' seem to have changed. I am still listed as an Administrator in the users section.

 

Has anyone else experienced this problem and know of a way to restore my rights without a system restore and losing DVBViewer?

 

I have checked through dozens if pages on this forum but no one else seems to have had this problem.
