using dvbviewer with DVB-C provider

Hello.

I have a problem with channel scan in DVBViewer.

I've bought Technisat CableStar HD 2 and got DVBViewer TE on their setup CD.

My Cable-tv provider uses DVB-C with parameters: QAM256, symbolrate 6750, e.g. frequencies 274MHz, 290MHz, 306MHz and so on.

I need to scan channels, but I do not understand how can I do this. I mean DVBViewer doesn’t allow me to scan specific frequencies and program tries to scan only usual channels (for example 268MHz).

What should I do?

And excuse me for my English: it’s not my native language.

Hi,

To be able to scan with the channel parameters you need, you will have to edit the correspondig ".ini" file in the transponders directory.

1.)

Open DVBViewerPro and select "Hilfe / Konfigurationsverz." or the appropriate english menu item. This should open the a window containing the directory "C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\All Users\Anwendungsdaten\CMUV\DVBViewer", respectively the english pendant to it. This directory contains the subdirectory "transponders", which you have to enter.

2.)

In the transponders dir you will find a lot of .ini files, corresponding to different satellite orbit positions. One of those files should have the name "4000.ini", this one is used für DVB-C reception. Open the 4000.ini with your preferred text editor and you will find something like that:

[SATTYPE]
1=4000
2=Kabel Deutschland Berlin

[DVB]
0=23
1=113000,3,6900,|ARD
2=121000,3,6900,|ARD
3=330000,5,6900,|KD FREE (PRO7), ARD Radio
4=338000,5,6900,|ARD, PPV
5=346000,5,6900,|KD FREE (RTL),  ARD Radio
6=354000,3,6900,|PREMIERE
7=362000,3,6900,|PREMIERE
8=370000,3,6900,|PREMIERE
9=378000,3,6900,|PREMIERE
10=386000,3,6900,|PREMIERE
11=394000,5,6900,|KD FREE, HOME, RADIO
12=402000,5,6900,|KD HOME, ENGLISCH
13=410000,5,6900,|KD HOME, ENGLISCH, RADIO
14=426000,5,6900,|KD HOME, ENGLISCH, RUSSISCH, RADIO
15=434000,5,6900,|KD TUERKKISCH, ITALIENISCH, RUSSISCH, DIVERSE, RADIO
16=442000,5,6900,|KD RUSSICH, TRKISCH, DIVERSE, RADIO
17=450000,3,6900,|ZDF
18=458000,3,6900,|ARD
19=466000,3,6900,|KD FREE, ARD RADIO
20=522000,5,6900,|PREMIERE HD
21=530000,3,6900,|KD FREE
22=538000,3,6900,|KD FREE
23=610000,3,6900,|DIGIKABEL BLN, DW

The item [sATTYPE] contains the subitems 1=xxxx, where xxxx deklares the orbital position of the satellite in 1/10 of a degree. The special value 4000 indicates that the transponder list is to be used for DVB-C. The subitem 2=.... contains the name of the satellite or the cable tv provider.

The item [DVB] contains the subitem 0=, which shows the total number of transponder definitons following. Every subitem from 1= to x= defines one transponder, where the subitems have the following meaning:

First entry with six digits is the frequency in khz

Second entry with one digit defines the modulation type ( 3=QAM64, 4=QAM128, 5=QAM256 )

Third entry with four digits defines the symbolrate for this transponder

Everything after the "|" is an optional description what channels / bouquets are present on this transponder.

Change the ini file to your needs and save it. Restart the DVBViewerPro, and now you should be able to scan the channels which are used by your cable provider.

Thank you!

But DVBViewer TE doesn’t have any transponder folder… As I understand, frequencies for DVBViewer TE are fixed and unchangeable.

Finally I’ve solved this problem with help of my friend, who has Pro version and transponder folder. He has scanned frequencies and made a channel list for me.

But I should say, that it is really strange, that TV-tuner is sold with so limited software…
