komzik
Yesterday I installed windows 7 prof on my htpc, before I had Windows XP Prof. I installed HD Pack 2.2 with PowerDVD 9, ffdshow, AC3filter, DVBViewer 4.1.1 etc. Different is only OS (before Windows XP, now Windows 7). On Windows XP I used on SD chanels ffdshow, on HD channels Powerdvd 9 with overlay mixer, and I had 18 - 20 % CPU, on Windows 7 I have on SD channels 15-20 % CPU, on HD channels 60-80 % CPU (!). When I change overlay mixer to experimental EVR Rendering I have 20 - 30 % CPU, but image is foggy on SD channels And second problem. When I close my htpc from DVBViewer to standby, and wake up I haven`t got a image, I only hear sound. Similar problems I meet on Vista. There is any solution for my problems ? Quote Link to comment
MRspeed
i dont know your system, but could it be, that on win xp the graphic-hardware acceleration worked and on win7 not? i also have win7 and also such an hight cpu-load. i use the divx h264 decoder because i havent powerdvd jet. but I'm not shure if my codec support vga acceleration. my system is: amd 955 (3,2ghz, 4gb ram, ato 5870) Quote Link to comment
komzik
If I remember, I marked "Use DVXA", but I`m not sure. I`ll check it out. Edited October 29, 2009 by komzik Quote Link to comment
esackbauer
XP was the last version where DXVA was fully supported in Overlay Renderer. To use DXVA on Vista and Windows 7 you need to use EVR, not Overlay. the foggy images can be corrected with some tuning tools (e.g. ATi Catalyst "Basic Quality") or the ATI Radeon Tweaks: http://exdeus.home.comcast.net/~exdeus/ati-hd2x00/ Don't know if there is the same foe Nvidia around. komzik
This script did`t work under Windows 7 W7 do not allow me to change registry. But I have administrative rights and I turn off User Account Control. On Windows 7 I observe, that HD channels sometimes freeze when I using Powerdvd 9 and EVR Vista Enhanced Video render I think that I must return to Windows XP.
