Hi. I am new to this program. I just wondered my current set up has a Nokia d-Box, connected to my computer via COM 1. I currently use Hyperterminal, but that only gives me raw data. I want to see this data on the screen properly, rather than in machine code.

Do I have to plug my lead that is in the Nokia box into my Sky box? Or what should I do?

Also, how do I get the software to read all the stream from Astra 2?

Thanks for your help and I look forward to hearing from you.

BTW my anti virus software stated that the page I had to click on to register had malicious software on it. When I blocked this it was fine! Very odd.

Thanks.

James

Well maybe you should rephrase your question, so it is clear what you are asking. And please be precise. Which DVBViewer software, which version etc.

I have not bought it yet. I wanted to know which device to plug my computer ibnto for it to read the data from Astra 2. I have a Nokia 9500 dbox and a Sky+ Digibox.

Which device do I plug my lead from my COM1 socket on my computer into?

Sorry for any confusuion. Once I know, I will proceed to buy the software.

Thanks again and sorry for any inconvenience.

Not sue but I do not know if I have a video card in my computer. There is an application called NVIDIA but I don't know what this is. Can anyone help?

In fact what I want to do is to look at the data streams ie the background data in the same way as Hyperterminal does but in a form I can actually read. I would then be able to see the EPG itself on my computer for example. Any idea as to which progam I would need to display this info correctly? Thanks.

NVIDIA ist most likely a Graphics card.

and not a TV tuner card

for the DVBViewer you need a DVB-? card

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVB-S

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVB-S2

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVB-T

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVB-T2

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVB-C

But if you have not much knowledge about using a computer, you better use a Set-Top-Box.

If you are planning to use the DVBViewer you should at least know what a codec is, if you need a CI/CAM if you need a DVB-S or a DVB-C card .....
