Transedit making 'ding' noise.

Hello,

My mild to moderate obsession with DVBViewer and Transedit continues ...

When Transedit is scanning, it sometimes makes a 'ding' noise. Is this some kind of Windows error or does the 'ding' mean something?

I use Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit.

Thanks,

Hello Lars,

I'll try and pinpoint when I hear it, then I'll post back.

If not an error, I assume its intention might be to alert that some channels have been found on a transponder, or maybe no channels have been found.

Or, is there a known need in Vista to run Transedit or DVBViewer 'as administrator'? I'm not at the moment, but maybe the ding is due to a permissions issue? However, all functionality appears to be working properly.

This might be mildly entertaining / useful / pointless ...

I've made a screen + audio recording for about a minute showing a Transedit scan and the 'ding' noise. Maybe one of you can notice a reason why it happens when it does? Or maybe it is just random?

The huge clock on the recording is so I could verify the audio sync matches what I manually noted when making the recording. The playback for me at the link below seems in sync; maybe no more than half a second out if anything.

It's a notification telling you after "Scan All" that the scan is finished, since it may be perforemd in the background.

Hello Griga,

Did you have a look / listen to my Youtube clip?

Can you understand why all those 'dings' are happening?

It seems from your reply that the 'ding' is intentionally coded, but maybe it is misfiring?

Sorry, I just discovered the source of the beeps: Some left-over debug code. Will be removed in the next TransEdit release.

ok, thanks Griga.

Did you dare to install Flash and hear the beeps / 'dings' on my clip, or did you work it out some other way?

I didn't try to upload the clip here as I assumed, maybe wrongly, that the file size / type wouldn't be allowed.
