buyukbang Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 (edited) Hi all, I'm a enigma2 STB user and recently I bought a Mac Mini (installed Windows 7) to use XBMC. Now I want to replace my STB with my Mac Mini + DVBViewer. But before that I need some information that I couldn't find clear answers from other DVBViewer users (on other forums), so I decided to write here to get the true answers. If you could response to this thread and share your experiences, I'll really appreciate !!! My questions are below: 1- Enigma2 has a feature called loop-through for dual tuner to utilize second tuner over the first tuner that is connected to disecq. So with only one cable from the disecq, and no second physical loop cable, second tuner connects to the tuner with the software support of enigma2. See below pictures of my enigma2 tuner configuration screenshots: http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd496/buyukbang/mixed/screenshot.jpg http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd496/buyukbang/mixed/screenshot2.jpg This enigma2 feature allows users to watch and record the channels in the same satellite and same polarization (all V or all H) and at the different TPs and frequences. . So I'm not restricted to use only the same TP with two tuners. I've one cable comes from the disecq and I've no chance to get a second cable because of decorational concerns. So using two tuners with this feature stuck me to use enigma2, till now. I just want to know if DVBViewer supports this feature or not? 2- MAC Mini has no PCI slot, so my only option is to use usb cards. Since I'm a DSMART CI subscriber, CI slot is also important for me. I'll buy two TV Cards, since I couldn't find a dual tuner usb card. I'm considering to purchase the following USB TV card: http://www.tbsdtv.com/english/product/QBoxS2CI.html Do you suggest this card. Do you have know any user feedback with that? Does DVB Viever support its CI slot? 3- Can I do everything with my universal remote, without using mouse and keyboard? (in terms of user comfort) 4- I'm a enigma2 plugin writer, I know C/C++/Phyton/Java etc. So, may be in the future I'll write plugins for DVBViewer for my usage needs. Which language is beeing used to write plugins? Is there any open source repository for plugins to inspect the codes when starting to write the first plugin. Regards... buyukbang Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 For the second question, I found below card: http://www.satboy.com/index.php?a=189〈=swe Please consider also this card when replying. (BTW, I see this when searching the forum, is there such a problem still? : http://www.DVBViewer.tv/forum/topic/45175-no-hd-channels-with-skystar-usb-2-hd-ci ) Quote
Tjod Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 1. http://en.DVBViewer.tv/wiki/Options_Hardware#Shared_LNB 3. For channel scan, sorting the channels and some basic configurations (codecs, renderer etc.) you need mouse and keyboard. http://en.DVBViewer.tv/wiki/Options_Overview If everything is configured everything (programming recordings etc.) can be done with a remote. 4. The DVBViewer supports differed interfaces for plugins. For easy things you can use the .vb scripts which are executed in different situations. http://de.DVBViewer.tv/wiki/DVBViewer_VBScripte (German) The documentation "DVBViewer COM Interface" is in the members area many things are possible via the COM Interface. An there is a real plugin interface. In theory it should be possible to writ plugins for this interface in every programming language that is abel to generat real .dll files. There is no real repository and not many open source plugins (the DVBViewer itself is not open source). The most examples are here: http://www.DVBViewer.tv/forum/forum/40-scripting-lounge-com-deen/ And keep in mind, a HTPC is not a feature-rich STB. It is general-purpose machine (PC) which you confiner to work as a HTPC (to find the right combination of driver version codec, renderer and so on can take quiet a while). Quote
buyukbang Posted January 5, 2012 Author Posted January 5, 2012 @Tjod, I really appriciate for the complete answers. In particular, I'm very happy to hear that DVBViewer has "Shared LNB" feature. This is great ! I was pessimist about this. As a PC/multimedia enthusiast, I decided to try my chance with DVBViewer. By the way, I'm very close to buy a SkyStar USB 2 HD CI in short time, anybody have an idea on this card? Quote
buyukbang Posted January 7, 2012 Author Posted January 7, 2012 (edited) I bought this card and no issues so far. HD channels tune fine after updating the TP ini files. Also Dsmart CI modules works fine so far. I payed for dvbviewr pro version, just received my pro account Now I'll install pro version. @Tjod, I really appriciate for the complete answers.
