I have a nova (dvb-t) card usb so maybe it's different

For a starter i use eventghost to control DVBViewer (and lots of programs)

What i did:

- installed win-tv (supplied with my card)

- disable hauppauge IR (for win7: start> search: msconfig > startup and uncheck the box)

Then in eventghost i use the plugin Hauppauge IR

You can download my EG config * from here

You will have to change certain keystrokes like me though or download from here. In DVBViewer: Input > Import

* work for win7 x64

1) Uninstall or disable WTVIRBridge

2) Get the Hauppauge Remote Plugin from the Customer Area -> Input Plugins section and store it in the DVBViewer\Plugins folder.

3) Launch DVBViewer, go to Settings -> Options -> Input -> Input Plugins. Tick HWCRemote and untick all other checkboxes.

4) Go to Settings -> Options -> Input, click the Learn Button.

5) Use the mouse to select an action in the list and press the according key on the Hauppauge remote control, thus assigning the key to this action. On success DVBViewer should insert a HWCRemote... entry below the action.

6) Repeat step 5 until all keys are assigned, click OK, done.

Has any body had success with getting a Hauppauge remote to work in Windows 8 32bit?

I tried, but the IR program does not seem to work in W8. It installs, but has no functionality. I cannot get it to respond to basic windows commands like 'mute' 'vol+/-', so if it can't do that, it certainly can't pass commands to DVBViewer. Tried the Hauppauge forum, but no response there, so I suspect that W8 remains unsupported at this stage. If that is the case, DVBViewer users that have Hauppauge hardware should not upgrade to Windows 8 unless they have an alternate Remote Control solution.

By the way, the Hauppauge TV tuners installed just fine on W8 (HVR3000, Nova-S-Plus, WinTV-CI), but not WinTV software.

Many thanks,

  • 6 months later...

I've waited 6 months and tried my Hauppauge remote control (HVR-3000) with Windows 8 32bit and WinTV 7.2 installed (along with .net 3.5), but it still does not work. No responses what so ever from WinTV, Windows, so DVBViewer certainly won't be able to use it for input.

Has anybody had any success with a Hauppauge remote on Windows 8 32bit?

Thanks,

You can use eventghost to control DVBViewer with your haupauge remote,it works great on win7 for me.

You have to disable Ir.exe in msconfig otherwise it'll llaunch/control wintv each time.

In evenghost you have to use the hauppauge IR plugin
