Windows 8 Local Account problems

I am not sure where the problem is here, so I'm looking for inputs from anyone who has W8 and DVBViewer running in a similar setup.

This is a new W8 installation (or rather an upgrade from Vista).

Windows 8 Pro 32 bit

DVBViewer 5.0

RS 1.23

DVBViewer and RS work fine when running on the built-in admin account.

However, I find that DVBViewer will not start when run from a local user account (i.e. not linked to Microsoft account).

There is nothing in the application logs but there are errors in the event logs (see 2 separate examples below).

Does anyone have DVBViewer and RS running on W8 Pro (not preview)?

If so, does DVBViewer Pro run ok from a normal (i.e with no escalated privileges) Local account?

Works fine for me: DVBViewer 5.0 (but also previous version) works without a problem with a normal local account. I don't use RS though.

Thanks for your input. I am really stumped here. DVBViewer works fine from the built-in administrator account but there seems to be some problem from other types of accounts in my system.

I am having difficulties trouble shooting this as the debug version of DVBViewer won't run either from my local account, and I can't see anything in the event log apart from the errors posted earlier.

Here is another error event log.

If anyone has any suggestions as to what else I can do I would be very grateful.

I finally fixed these issues by completely reinstalling W8. It seems that permissions were incorrectly assigned by the original install process which oddly affected DVBViewer but not the couple of other desktop apps that I had installed.
