New PC and now a lot of errors in log when recording

Recommended Posts

I have just changed the insides of my server out with an Intel G3250T CPU , 8GB of RAM and an MSI H97M ECO motherboard with Windows 7 64 bit from an old AMD single core CPU running on Windows XP .

I still have my TechniSat Cable Star HD 2 PCI as a TV card .

Before the change , there were no problems at all with DVBViewer Recording Service and there was never errors in the log file or pixel errors in the recorded material.

Now there are several errors pr minute and serious pixel errors and hiccups in the sound when I record something .

The log file now looks like this :

...
Device: TechniSat Mantis DVBC BDA Receiver

23:15:31 / 00:00:00 ( ~ 0.00 MB ) Start
23:15:33 / 00:00:01 ( ~ 1.27 MB ) PID 2850 : H.264 Video, 16: 9, 1280x720 , 50 fps

23:17:10 / 00:01:38 ( ~ 127.66 MB ) Errors : 6
23:17:20 / 00:01:48 ( ~ 140.80 MB) Errors : 3

When I play in DVBViewer , it shows a signal strength of 98%.

It's the same TV card , the same cable and the same antenna amplifier, so there is nothing changed here .

I've tried to adjust the antenna amplifier both up and down, but it did nothing.

Where do I start to debug ?

Can decoders, drivers etc have something to do with these kinds of errors?

You have the RS installed but the DVBViewer is not correctly configured to use it.

So uninstall the RS or configure the DVBViewer.

http://en.DVBViewer.tv/wiki/Recording_Service_Installation_Guide#Setting_up_DVBViewer

But the problem is mostly caused by energy saving features of the mainboard.

The PCI frequency should not be changed.

A enabled C1E setting can cause problems with some TV cards.

And there may be more settings which can affect the TV card.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. It seems it works when I disable C-state. Although there goes my entire plan for a new low power server *sigh*
