Disappeared channels

For a few months I have problems with my HTPC.

First manifestation of problems: after changes on the 28.5E satellites I can no longer receive some British channels.

Some time later there were changes on the 19.5E and 23.5E satellites and I can hardly watch any TVV (TV-Vlaanderen package) channel.

When I scan the aforementioned satellites with Transedit 3.9.6.0, I can no longer find many channels but a remarkable number of "Service xxx" channels. Sometimes there is one that seems to work.

I can switch to some channels but the picture and sound stop after 1 or 2 seconds; that is why I think that something has changed in the CODECS that are used. I use the LAV 0.79.2 filters.

You need to use up-to-date transponder lists for scanning. TransEdit provides means for performing transponder list updates. If you don't do it, you lose more and more channels / frequencies over time. However, for now you can also use the transponder lists that I have attached below. Please store them in the Transponders sub-directory of the DVBViewer configuration folder (see Help menu in DVBViewer).

You are using an out-dated version. The current version is TransEdit 4.3.3. Your DVBViewer version (5.3.2.0) is also completely out-dated. The current version is DVBViewer 7.3.0. Usually we don't provide support for such antiquated versions anymore.

This may be caused by bad reception. The scanner can't read the SDT that contains the channel and provider names. Use the TransEdit Analyzer to check if there are a lot of missing packets when receiving the frequency in question.

The LAV Filters seem to be the only thing that is up-to-date in your set-up ;)

Hello Griga, thanks for your response.

Regarding the transponder lists: I have downloaded the INI files from https://nl.kingofsat.net/satellites.php and that has never given any problems.

I agree 100% with the fact that the software used is outdated, but it has worked flawlessly until the moment that updates were made to, among others, the British FTA channels (E28.5) and the channels of the TV-Vlaanderen bouquet (E23.5).

I have downloaded the different versions of DVBViewer but never installed them. Why would I, it worked!

As suggested by you, I installed Transedit 4.3.3 and scanned it with the transponder lists you provided. Started the scan and the result is exactly the same!?
As far as I understand, Transedit is an independent program, or not? I mean that Transedit does not use the DVBViewer program files, or does it?

Also a bad alignment of the dish and LNBs seems to me to be excluded since there is a 2nd receiver (Philips TV) using the same installation and it shows no problems.

Kind regards, Patrick

Some of the code is shared or very similar.

This has nothing to do with codecs at all. Codecs are not involved in reading the SDT. Nobody else has problems with the latest LAV version. Again: Please use the TransEdit Analyzer to check the incoming data, if there are missing packets and if the SDT appears in the PID list of the affected frequency (look for PID 17).

I guess something is wrong with your ancient FireDTV device or its driver, because I vaguely remember problems with this device many years ago concerning the SDT. I'll do a research later when I (hopefully) find time for it. I still have a FireDTV S2 here connected to an old PC under Windows 7, but I don't use it anymore.

The Driver & Setup 5.7 package contains a later driver than the one you are using. Maybe you want to give it a try...

However, this is not what I'm searching, because I can remember tests with TransEdit and the FireDTV S2 where the SDT was missing in the Analyzer. I'm quite sure that I communicated with someone about this issue, but it's pretty hard to find it after so many years...
