Konrad Lefkon Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Hi Everyone How about a Checkbox Option for Auto Subtitles when going to Mute? I like the idea a lot but what do you think? Thanks Konrad Quote
Griga Posted November 9 Posted November 9 You have already suggested it 12 years ago. A nice idea. However, putting it into practice is difficult. For example, there are channels that provide a subtitle selection like this (from the DVBViewer OSD): Which one should be auto-selected? There are subtitles for different purpose, different languages, from different sources (DVB graphical subtitles or teletext-based subtitles)... and several of them remain empty most of the time and are only broadcasted temporarily. DVBViewer can't decide it, so in the end the user has to decide, and then it's no auto-selection anymore... Quote
Konrad Lefkon Posted November 10 Author Posted November 10 Hi Okay, I'll stop going on about it. Thanks for weighing it up though Griga. I see now it's not as easy as I thought to instigate it. Much appreciated. KL Quote

By this, several TV windows can be open at the same time (provided enough tuners are available), but all of them except one must be muted to avoid acoustical chaos. There is a mechanism that takes care of it, and It could be quite useful if the muted windows would automatically display subtitles, making it easier to monitor what's going on there. A kind of pre-selection by the user could be a solution. DVBViewer remembers the last selected subtitles for a channel in its TV database and reactivates them when you switch back to this channel, even after a DVBViewer restart. Letting this happen conditionally (if muted then..) is a possible approach... with one downside: The PiP window, which can be part of multi-TV sessions, is not able to display subtitles because it has no OSD, and it would require some efforts to add it. Quite a lot to think of... anyway, I will keep it in mind. Maybe it can be picked up later... Quote
Konrad Lefkon Posted November 13 Author Posted November 13 Thanks again Griga for weighing up my suggestion. I am grateful. Quote
