finding a Satellite signal

I just bought a twinhan dvb card hooked it up to a 80 cm, round dish tried star choice lnb just got 35% signal everwhere i pointed the dish bought a 12.2Ghz- 12.7Ghz L0=11250mhz lnb same problem but 55% no matter where its pointed, even if its not in the dish. using brand new rg6 cable directley to computer using vision dtv software. not to many people this far north try this kind of thing. any advice?

Unless you can establish that the dish is aligned correctly in at least one plane, you are going to have to be really lucky. It could take you either minutes or days to find a signal. I try to get the vertical alignment right by copying the angle of a similar working dish, then make microscopic movements horizontally until you find a signal. Once you have one satellite, finding others is much easier, but you will need a lot of time and patience.
