UHD HDR channels stuttering with MadVR renderer

Recommended Posts

Hi

we have two new channels in France in UHD HDR 50Hz. With DVBViewer, the only option I found to display them in HDR is using MadVR Video Renderer. Unfortunately it's unwatchable because of very bad video stuttering, it looks like it's missing a lot of frames. I tried to tune a bit MadVR using different settings, but nothing works.

PC is a Ryzen 5950X, 64G RAM, Radeon 6700xt. Tuner is network tuner HD Homerun DVB-T2 4 tuners.

I tried on an Intel platform, less powerfull, stutters just a bit less but still not really watchable.

It works fine using a small Amlogic box under CoreElec, so I guess tuner & network are not at fault here.

Anything I could try ?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Found a solution : setting the Hardware Decoder to D3D11 in LAV Video Decoder, instead of DXVA2 (native) helped a lot, almost no stuttering now.

You may also want to try the MPC Video Renderer, that is supported since the latest DVBViewer 7.2.5.0 version:

Added: Playback Components: Support for the MPC Video Renderer. It can be selected on Settings → Options → Playback Components → Video as video renderer, if it is registered in the system. See here what is working / not working with it. The MPC Video Renderer is recommendable if DVBViewer is running under Linux/Wine.

I can see some HDR settings on its property page (accessible via Settings -> Filters, if the renderer is in use).
