Having the same problems as Zefix with a GE+ (Win 7 pc), showing as Hauppauge Siena Capture but after setting it up as terrestrial, group H, Encoder box settings as digital serial etc' go to scan terrestrial (group H), under the new reception settings(confusing compared to the original scanner) and have to press scan twice for it to react but finds no channel.

Zefix, did you manage to fix this. Anyone else including hackbart able to help get this sorted.

Thanking you in advance.

Hackbart, in the latest DVBViewer versions the scanning device has changed, If I set the Hauppauge Hd Pvr 2 as Terrestrial under Channel Group H so not to interfere with my DVB-S2 card( (using the correct inputs of Serial Digital and ABS/AEU Digital as using hdmi for both video / sound), what do I pick on the scanner page when it asks what kind of Terrestrial I want, e,g Terrestrial EUR etc.

Thanking you in advance.

Really need help from you guys with my above queries, can't stand hauppauge capture or wintv 8. Even stupidly upgraded to the nightmare win 10 in the hope I can get this connected ( and of course this time the recovery option to return to win 7 is not working and to much to re-install to fresh install win 7) but still am having the same issues as Zefix. Has anyone got this working with the Hauppauge Sienna Video Capture of the Hd Pvr 2 rather than the Rocket which has a different capture engine.

Okay, lets explain the Capture device (again). Such a thing does "nothing" else than converting a signal (analog or digital) into a video in a dvb similar format. The DVBViewer is able to handle these devices, but you have to select which kind of dvb type you try to simulate. Which kind of signal you select, is not important. If your grabber card has an ir transmitter (which sends a ir signal to a set top box in order to change the channel), you can create a virtual channel map.

Hi hackbart,

Thank you so much for your reply and trying to help.

Right, I am not going to use this with the ir transmitter, so only need a single grabber channel. I am connecting the device using hdmi for both video and audio(connected to a source with picture and sound been displayed). So far as per Zefix I have added the device as Hauppauge Siena Video Capture using Terrestrial, group H (so as not to interfere with my satellite card on the other groups) directly through the device section of DVBViewer, not recording service or the mapping tool (although I have tried the tool which does not appear to recognise any device attached despite been placed in the DVBViewer directory). I have then gone into the encoder settings and selected Serial Digital for video and ABS/AEU Digital for audio. I have then gone to the scan reception settings and picked Terrestrial Eur and Group H. Like Zefix the first time I press the scan (either frequency or range) nothing appears to be happening, pressing the scan a second time the scan starts but literally after just a second the green bar flies through the scan and finishes and does not find any channels. The Hd Pvr 2 does not react to this scan by lighting up the ring as per what other programs do, Hauppage Capture, Wintv 8, Jriver(which sees it as an analogue device and do an analogue scan) and which have all successfully connected to device which makes me think there is some sort of miscommunication between device and DVBViewer. Do you have experience of anyone connecting a Hd Pvr 2 (rather than a Rocket or 1112 which obviously have different encoder engines) as both myself and Zefix appear to be having the same problem.

Hope I have given you enough info to help and thanking you in advance for any further response.

Obviously, Hackbart is unable to help with the hd pvr 2 connection problem, surely there is someone else on this this forum who knows how to get this device connected, I can't be the only one who has tried along with Zefix.

Is there any likelihood that the Hauppauge HD PVR 60 will be supported?

At the moment on windows 8.1, it is not even seen from DVBViewer after a scan from settings > options > hardware > scan devices.

Posted

The Hd Pvr 60 has a newer version of the encoder hardware that is in the Rocket and this is most probably the reason it is not been seen. As with the Hd Pvr 2 (which is seen but has some sort of communication error with only DVBViewer) it doesn't look like there is going to be any sort of update. As you can see above outside of the generic answer I got from hackbart to my pushing for help my problems with connecting the hd pvr 2 have been ignored (along with Zefix) which considering I have paid for the software is slightly disappointing.

Is it possible to add support for the elgato game capture hd?

It also produces a really nice mpeg-ts with h.264 video and aac audio, but driver is may be not based on BDA

Could anyone please say me, if it is supported today? If not: Alternatives?

I mean this one: https://www.alternate.de/html/product/1570760?partner=goadwoPLA&srsltid=AfmBOop_ek59bMROvL1LZDGK2VFKoDnC3_dPWTH589csoqdjpSfMSC2P4Yg

I've got a Hauppauge Colossus 2 capture card which is not the same, being an internal pcie card. However, I have recently carried out a clean install of it and found the experience of the installation process different to my original installation which was subject to test DVBViewer exe files. Maybe it will give you some other things to try.

The card is recognised as a "Hauppauge Serial Video Capture". Based on previous experience I selected tuner type ATSC and fromn the settings picked video input as "Video Serial Digital" and audio as "AES/EBU Digital".

I was offered America ATSC for the tuner frequencies and was able to scan and save the minimum one channel that I needed.

With these settings I am able to record video and audio from the HDMI connection.

Sorry to bring this old thread up. I have an PCIe HDMI capture card and not detected in Hardware -> Devices so assuming is not supported.

Read here that those that works are Hauppauge HD PVR Rocket Hauppauge HD PVR 2 but these products no longer available.

Is there any other Capture Device that actually works in DVBViewer Pro?

Hauppage Colossus 2 still very much in use my PC. It is a PCie card capturing HMDI video and audio. I believe that is still on sale but supported? Hmmm.

Check if you can see the Device detected in DVBViewer

In my case few of the PCIe HDMI and USB HDMI capture devices I tested not detected but all those are not from Hauppauge.

My Colossus card is recognise as "Hauppauge Siena Video Capture" and has been working since 2017 after heroic efforrts by the DVBViewer support team involving special versions of the program in order to gather extra configuration data. It seems that whilst there is a convention on the communication channels to be used between card and software, Hauppauge do not use them. That the Colossus card works in DVBViewer is because it has a bespoke solution. I count myself as fortunate to have achieved this status and have been enjoying the benefits for a while now.

Your card is Hauppauge Colossus 2 right? I currently using AVerMedia Live Gamer DUO PCIe HDMI Capture Card which doesn't detect in DVBViewer Hardware Devices. It working ok in PotPlayer but I still prefer using my copy of DVBViewer Pro. Are the steps getting Hauppauge Colossus 2 to work in DVBViewer complicated? This Hauppauge Colossus 2 card I can see that is still on sale so might probably buying one.

The bespoke upgrade I got was incorporated into the official DVBViewer. I did a clean install this March and it went fine but it was slighlty different, as in "improved".. There are a couple of things to set up but it isn't that difficult. (Funnily enough I cannot crrently easily look at my hardware settings (the subject of a different thread!).

Hauppauge also supply their own capture software but I'm not impressed by it.

Thanks but I don't know what is this the bespoke upgrade about. If I decided to get this Hauppauge Colossus 2 card and having difficulty to get it work in DVBViewer, I wish that if you can guide me through the steps.

I got a special version of the program during the testing of  the interface. Once it worked the results of the test were successful the changes were added into the official release. I only mentioned the bespoke aspect to underline the efforts that DVBViewer had to make the card workable. As I have done a clean install from a fresh download I know that the official release supports the card.

I found out that besides Hauppauge Colossus 2 card selling at US$160, there is this Hauppauge HD-PVR 2 selling at US$104 which is a USB version. Saw the video by member Eyerex in this thread on getting Hauppauge HD-PVR 2 to work in DVBViewer. Probably will go for Hauppauge HD-PVR 2 as it is about US$60 cheaper.

Edit: I read back the thread again I think member Eyerex was using a Hauppauge HD PVR Rocket and not Hauppauge HD-PVR 2.

I can understand your reasons for going for the HD-PVR 2. My Colossus choice was because I wanted to move from an earlier Hauppage box (component out and optical audio input to USB output) to a HDMI system. The Colossus seemed the best choice at the time but I have some experience in opening up PCs and fitting internal cards, HDDs and the like.

You are absolutely right to seek out a capture card that has been proven to work with DVBViewer, which works with my other PCie cards, a terrestrial tuner and a satellite tuner. Sometimes I can be using all three at once, all with DVBViewer.

After reading the first post by Christian mentioned that "...Devices with ITE chipsets should work in general..." and that member Eyerex was using Hauppauge Rocket which use IT9910 Capture Filter that is working perfectly in DVBViewer Pro. I went on to search for any similar USB capture device that is using ITE chipsets and happen to find this "ezcap284 HD Capture All-in-1" and is using driver IT9910 Capture Filter as well. Purchased one which cost under US$80 and it arrived today. Connect up the device and follow Eyerex YT guide on setting up and scanning channel in DVBViewer Pro, result is it working perfectly. Finally now I can just use DVBViewer Pro to watch programs in 3 separate windows from source TV Tuner, m3u IPTV streaming and this latest addition USB HDMI capture device connected to the Android TV box.

I have been using my Colossus 2 capture for a long time now but I am facing a potential problem should I decide to upgrade my source hardware, something I would like to do.
It turns out that the Colossus is limited to 1080i input but the latest generation of boxes will only do 1080p. Some manuals just say “1080” but I’m fearing the worst having looked at a few already.
The expedient solution is probably to buy an external Hauppauge box which supports 1080p, and a USB connection which is a shame compared to a PCIe card solution. This looks like the Hauppauge PVR Rocket rather than PVR Pro.

My main criteria is still that whatever I get is recognised by DVBViewer. Does anyone have a suggestion?

I don’t know how but I’ve managed to make a recording….

Upon further investigation I discovered that the Hauppauge website is ambiguous on the subject of 1080p. The spec page lists 1080p as available but a FAQ reply on their website said not.

I tried Hauppauge’s own capture software which wasn’t acceptable (still) but I had another look at the options in DVBViewer, tried changing a few things and then reverted to the original settings (I think!).  I’m currently carrying out a few more test captures.

I’ve only made a temporary installation and I won’t  go live until November. Fingers crossed.
